I was born in Norfolk, Virginia, and raised in Virginia Beach. I'm passionate about, mental health and helping women of all ages and backgrounds heal from the inside out. I received my Advanced Clinical Master of Social Worker degree from Saint Leo University in 2020 and have experience working as a medical social worker at Norfolk General Psychiatry Ward. I'm currently a Medical Hospice Social Worker, advocating for each patient’s end-of-life wishes and helping individuals/families address the emotional aspects of late-stage illnesses.
I love helping people work through their emotions/grief and understand the concept of the dying process. But I also love working with people who think less of themselves and feel broken, I want to see them healed and allow love in both self-love and love from others. I love seeing people heal from trauma and gain confidence.
I am a huge advocate for therapy, and in 2020 I started going to therapy while I was going to therapy, I realized at the age of 30 that I am still dealing with self-esteem and learning to love my body the way it is now. I told my therapist at the time the Lord placed in my heart to start a podcast and she asked why. I wanted to reach out to women who disliked the way they looked or felt insecure, and to be honest I sometimes still have those feelings.
I wanted to empower women to find love within and to gain confidence. I want to walk in my truth and the purpose that God has for me to help more women who may look like or feel like me realize that what matters is on the inside and not on the outside. Do not allow what you look like to change who you are. You were put on this earth for a reason and as the Season Saints would say “God don’t make no mistake”
This platform is not to promote unhealthy habits or obesity but to promote self-love, confidence boost, God, and healing the little girl in you, so you can stop dreaming about being a different person and be the woman that God called you to be today. We will improve the way you think about yourself, improve the way you speak about yourself, improve the way you care for yourself around others (Hold that head up sis), improve the way you eat, not for looks but for healing yourself from within.
I started this platform because I have struggled with self-esteem and confidence for years. I was always the Phat (Pretty Hot and Thick) friend. I could feel myself going back into depression because I did not like myself. I was recently asked by my coach what did not like and I told her from the neck down. My outlet was food, food was my best friend because in my mind it made me feel better and I knew the food would not judge me. Also, mind you I was going to school online for my Master’s Degree during Covid-19, so on top of emotional eating I was stress eating, which eventually led to me becoming a diabetic because of what I was eating. I knew I had to make a change, but did not know where to start until recently in 2023. God reminded me of this podcast and I thought well God I am not totally 100% over this myself so who am I to help other women, Wrong. I am Healing and this is a journey, not a marathon. Healing From the Inside Out was created for women who feel like me regarding their body image, and confidence, and believe in who God called them to be to know they are not alone and we are in this healing journey together. My journey may not look like yours and vice versa but know you have a sister in me who will push you to think about the hard stuff through Healing from the Inside Out topics and will be interviewing women and asking them about their healing journey that will also be vulnerable enough to share with us about their trauma, mental health problems, about their body images and how they succeed on learning to love the women they become, which is what my wish is for you. There is only one of you let us start loving us. Baby be you! Before you leave this episode, I pray that you will get what you need out of each episode. I pray that this platform will teach you tools on how to learn to love yourself from the Inside out. I pray that you will start loving yourself from within and will be able to share your journey with women in your circle. I pray for total healing from the Inside Out, I pray this platform will inspire another woman to live in her truth, to not hold that head down, to walk, in confidence, and to show up sis.
Sincerely,
Ms. Kiara Marie
